    !GRANDPARENTS: Benjamin Whipple (1688-1788) and Sarah Bernon. --J.E. Davis, Nov 1999. In 6 Dec 1999 email, J.E. Davis hypothesizes that Thomas might actually be the grandson of Benjamin Whipple's second wife, Esther Miller, through their son Joseph Whipple "(1737-?) [who] resided in Plainfield, CT and Perry Mills, NY. As you may recall from my earlier message, the Thomas and Lucy Whipple that I suspect are my Benjamin F. Whipple's parents are buried in the Perry Mills cemetery, Clinton Co., NY. Therefore, Joseph may be the missing link. I need to check out the census indexes for Clinton Co., NY for 1790 and 1800 to see if Joseph is mentioned there.

    "If this does prove out, then my Benjamin F. Whipples lineage would be Thomas & Lucy, Joseph (wife Katherine Greene), Benjamin (2nd wife Esther Miller), Benjamin (Ruth Mathewson), Capt. John & Sarah Whipple. However, I think I need much more proof than currently available to verify this lineage."

NY and Katherine (Greene) Whipple, born 4 Dec 1740 in Coventry, RI, died in 1812 in Pittsford, VT.     !PARENTS: Parentage appears uncertain, according to Bruce Whipple, who writes (28 Mar 1999) that "Thomas (1787-1887) may also have had a son Benjamin Franklin (1812-1904). Benjamin moved to Georgia about 1840 and served with the CSA [Confederate States Army]." Benjamin Franklin Whipple does NOT appear in Bruce Whipple's list of children in his Email to the Whipple Website, 15 Oct 1999, in which he cites records of Roxbury Township, Delaware County, New York. Perhaps Benjamin Franklin Whipple is not part of this family? Following receipt of a note from John E. Davis on 23 Nov 1999, the link between Benjamin Franklin Whipple and "parents" Thomas and Mary Jane Whipple was removed from the database. A subsequent note from J.E. Davis on 30 Nov 1999 gives evidence that Benjamin Franklin Whipple's parents were Thomas and Lucy Whipple, Thomas being a grandson of Benjamin and Sarah (Bernon) Whipple.
