He then went to work for an International Tractor Dealer in 1942. In 1943, he worked in a shipyard as a mechanic. Later, he worked as a mechanic for a Studebaker dealer, next he worked as a service manager at a Chevrolet dealer in Hamilton, Montana for 6 years.
