!SOURCE: Email from Donald L. Combe (email hidden), member of the Archives of St. Marks Church, Niagara on the Lake, Canada, to the Whipple Website, 4 Mar 2008. He states that "We are deeply interested in any information relating to Mary Atkinson and her whereabouts after Robert left England in 1791 for Canada. There is considerable speculation that Mary died earlier than the 1809 date and that indeed Robert had a second wife in England." He notes the following events in the lives of Robert Addison and Mary Atkinson and their relatives:- 1754 Oct 6

- Mary Atkinson's birth, daughter of Richard Atkinson and Rebecca Plummer
- 1780 Oct 24
- Addison marries Mary Atkinson Cambridge All Saints (All Saints Parish register, Richard Atkinson officiated, witness were Hannah Linton, Richard Edwards, William Atkinson)

- Addison completes B. A. Trinity College, Cambridge
- 1781 Mar 11
- Ordained deacon at Norwich, Norfolk (Norwich and Norfolk registry office). Licensed as curate in Upwell, Norfolk at £45 per annum. Curate in 1781 only. Conducted one marriage and signed banns May to October 1781.
