- !SOURCE: Email from Davida Symonds (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 6 Jan 2013. Cites attached scan of Matthew's obituary. She writes: "I've attached the clipping I told you about, I found it in a small "First Testment" which belong to Harriet Whipple, daughter of Mathew, it was in the effects of Louise Whipple, daughter of Mathew (II) and Lora Symonds, who was my husband's Great Aunt. Checking on dates of births, I found Matthew's was 1811 by 1850 census + the newspaper, 1812 by 1860 & 70 census, 1816 by Yates and other. Silas's birth was 1819 by 1860 census, 1821 by 1850,1870, 1880 census so I'm not exactly sure about the dates but it seems Matthew was the elder."
