- !SOURCE: Email from Alice Odaffer (email hidden) to the Whipple One-Name Study, 14 May 2023. She writes "A lot of records on the internet, have Charles’ first wife, Ruth, as dying on October 29, 1789, which is not right. It seems a little strange that he would marry Jemina on the date of Ruth’s death, also, that he would have had his 'intention to marry' her published prior to Ruth dying. I believe Ruth died sometime prior to August 1789 and he married quickly, as they did back then, because he had small children. I am still searching for Ruth’s death information and it is not as easy for me as I live in Florida and don’t go north as often as I did."
