!SOURCE: Email from Ron Romano (email hidden) to the Whipple Website, 3 Nov 2011. Ron writes: I believe you have an error in stating that sons Farrington and Clayton were twins. Farrington was born October 8, 1865. Numerous sources confirm that including his own passport on ancestry.com. Clayton was his younger brother, born December 22, 1870. While it may be true that Clayton was a twin, it was not Farrington, who was older by 5 years. I found one clue to a possible third child (?clayton's twin?) in the 1910 US census. By then, William W Whipple had closed his business and moved with wife Frances to Boston to be with his son Farrington. But the census taker indicated on the form that Frances (Farrington and Clayton's mom) had given bith to 3 children, 2 of whom were living. It is quite possible that clayton did have a twin who died in infancy, but again, it wasn't Farrington.

!SOURCE: Email from Ron Romano (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 5 Nov 2011. Adds full middle name. "Farrington died October 3, 1953. He lived a good long life, dying at age 87. He was a physician, he never married. He was Harvard Medical School trained and for 30 years or more lived in Boston, but he returned to portland in his later years. He was the older brother of Clayton (not twin).
He was a world traveller - records in the early 1900s show he was on at least 10 ships visiting outh and central America, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Fiji."
