there's still some confusion over the name of Stephen Whipple (1799-1848) who came to Dekalb County Georgia in 1820 and settled in Wilkinson County in about 1823. He had no middle name. I have seen his tombstone and it bears no middle name. I'll try to get a photo to send along.

He is the son of Stephen Whipple of Cumberland R. I. (1772-1844) who married Olive Bennett.Stephen Whipple of Georgia (1799-1848) gave his son Stephen, born in 11/18/1833, the middle name of Bennett. He named him for his mother, Olive Bennett. Stephen Bennett (1833-1915) is my grandfather. He was the first Stephen Bennett in our line.
