Went to Providence, worked at the mason's trade for several years. July 1855, came to Minneapolis, lived there three years, helped build the first brick house in the town, built the residence of Rev. Gideon Pond at Bloomington. In 1859 made a trip to Red River, 1864 bought the place on which he lives. During the Indian massacre, was Quartermaster under Col. Stevens, at Glencoe.
