Notes - !SOURCE: Email from Earl Wm. ("Bill") Kennedy (email hidden) to Weldon Whipple, 30 Apr 2005. Cites the "Prentiss Glazier typescript on the Chamberlain family, seemingly well researched (based on the Chamberlain Family Association Reports of 1908-1910), done ca. 1954" Bill writes:
Josiah served in the Revolutionary War; born Roxbury, MA; he enlisted 1781, 1782; residence was New Marlborough, MA; his wife was sister of Ebenezer Cheney; he was a carpenter when he enlisted; died Marlboro, Vermont 1819. Most of this is in various records concerning the Revolutionary War veterans (and pensions). When he married in 1777, he was living in Petersham, MA. (By the way, every published source I've seen about the Cheney family gives her the incorrect parentage.)
Mary "appears in 1840 census of Revolutionary War Pensioners: Mary Chamberlain, aged 86, in Marlborough, Vermont. I have the sworn testimony by her and her brother Ebenezer Cheney about her marriage to Josiah Chamberlain in 1777."
