Gives name Margaret, stating that Thomas "married by 1547 Margaret ---, who was buried in Bocking, Essex, on 13 June 1577." On p. 192 Fiske writes:
The first Whipple entry in the Bocking parish registers (which start in 1558) is that of the burial of Margareta Whipple on 13 June 1577, followed six years later by the baptism of Matthew's firsborn, Anne, on 1 September 1583. Given that every other entry in the Bocking parish register is referable to Matthew, it is likely that the Margaret Whipple buried in 1577 was a close relative, quite probably his mother.
