      LOUIS E. BABCOCK, 76 of RD 1, Box 18, Athens died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1993 at the Robert Packer Hospital. Born in Ridgebury Township, the son of Allie and Millie Whipple Babcock Sr., he attended East Smithfield schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then owned and operated an Atlantic service station in Athens for 25 years – retiring in 1981. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 246 of Athens and the V.F.W. No. 1536 of Sayre. He was predeceased by his first wife, Christine on June 22, 1983. He is survived by; his second wife, Harriet at home; sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Laura Babcock Jr. Of Athens RR 2, David and Pat Babcock of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. And Gary and Roselyn Babcock of Athens RR 2; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Linda and Bernard Moon of Wyalusing, Ron Walker of Sayre and Michael and Myrna Walker of Towanda; seven step-grandchildren; brothers, Richard of Waverly, Robert of Waverly, Rodney of Sheshequin, Ralph of Athens RR 2 and Charles of Elmira, N.Y.; sisters, Helen Alfro of California, Nan Slater of Florida, Viola Kitchen of Athens RD 2 and Pauline Grisson of California and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Lowery Funeral Home, 225 S. Main St., Athens on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Howard Hockenbury, pastor of the Athens United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the G.V.E.M.S., 201 Allison St., Sayre or to the Bradford County Unit of the American Cancer Society, 413 S. Main St., Athens. –Towanda Daily Review
