(src: Find A Grave) John Wesley Whipple, son of Joseph Whipple {4545} and Mary Doren {4552}, was b. 10 Oct. 1833 in Burns, Allegany, NY.  He enlisted in Aug 1862 and was discharged because of disability in March 1863.  (src: New York, Town Clerks Registers of Men Who Served in the Civil War, 1861-1865) It would appear that [the above Johns are the same person--] prob. John William Whipple {7381} of Burns, Allegany, NY.  I can't account for the discrepancy in birth dates between Find a Grave and the Civil War Register.
