!OBITUARY:DUBUQUE TELEGRAPH-HERALD, TUESDAY 11/27/1923:
Mrs. Samantha Shoup Borne to the Grave:
"Funeral services for Mrs. Samantha Chloe Shoup, a former resident of this
city, who died at the home of her son, Edward, in San Jose, California, last Tuesday,, were conducted Monday afternoon at Walton's chapel at 2:30 o'clock, by Reverend David Berger, pastor of the third Presbyterian church.
Miss Long, with Dwight Phelps playing the accompaniment, sang the hymn, "Abide With Me," during the service.The body has been placed in Linwood cemetery. Pallbearers were: A.P. Maclay, C.W.Skemp, P.S.Fawkes, Alvin Agard, T.M. Langton, and Charles Agard.
Out-of-town people at the funeral were surviving children: Edward Shoup, San Jose, California, George Shoup, Puyallup, Washington, Mr & Mrs. Arthur
Nelson Shoup, Chicago, and Miss Grace Shoup, Indianapolis. William Shoup, the other surviving son of Kalisdell, Montana was unable to be present.
