Jenks says 1867, but there is no Lydia Wilkinson in Ira in the 1860 census] The above stones are next to one another Nancy [must be Nancy Whipple, daughter of Christopher and Sarah Whipple] / wife of Elias Bates / died Nov 20, 1850, aged 68 years [therefore born about 1782 which fits perfectly with the Christopher Whipple family] Elias Bates / died Nov 30, 1857, aged 79 years. A check of the 1850 census showed that they were both in Ira and both born in Rhode Island! [the town clerk had the dates as 1830 and 1837, but Jenks had 1850 and 1857 which is more believable based on the 1850 census]
