    • !SOURCE: Email from Beverly H (email hidden) to Weldon Whpple, 22 Mar 2018. "Hiram Hill Whipple, married around 1868 to a Martha Brown born in Canada and went first to MI and then to Oregon. Hiram died in East Portland Oregon Dec 22, 1885 and is buried there. Martha remarried, I believe her name was VanTwerp or something similar when she filed for Hiram's pension.  He was a member of the 122nd Reg Co K NY Infantry.  In the same cemetery where Hiram is buried there is a William Whipple who died in 1888 but I do not believe this is his father William.  It may be William Wells Whipple  although some say he never married.  I have him with a wife Ruth Whipple, daughter Carrie, and living in  Portland Oregon around that time."
