Source includes the following information: "Grandma Dewey's book, LDS Family History Center, Shirley Woodward. AFter Lucy died, Alanson went off to war. Children put around in neighbors' homes: 3 boys (5,7,8) went to Ohio with folks they lived with in Cato. George had a son Hector that died in 1979. Hector said family origin was Scotch. Whipple is an English name, but well know Scotsman Isaac Ross settled in RI and Conn., so there is probably some connection. Probably a daughter of Isaac Ross married a Whipple." Gives birth 1823.
