  !SOURCE: "Descendants of Jonathan Whipple," email from B. Huckins to Weldon Whipple, 4 Apr 2008. She writes: I don't find that you have this line which has been on my disconnected list for a long time. The reference to Jonathan being the father of Josephus comes from a couple of different sources but I have not been able to identify him further. The mother's name I'm fairly sure of as Sarah Whipple as she is buried with Josephus and I did find a record of a Sarah in the same town with a husband Jonathan. The source for Jonathan says he is of Massachusetts and of (alternately) Irish or Scotch descent. I did find that the wife of Josephus is of Scotch-Irish descent so perhaps this is where a possible error occured. I also have a note that Jonathan's father may have been William but my notes are old and no source noted. For what it is worth, here is the line as I researched it thus far.
